What each count means
Word and sentence counts can vary between tools because software uses different rules for punctuation, hyphens, abbreviations, and languages. Texite applies the same rules every time on your device.
Use Words when you are planning an article, assignment, caption, or form response. Use Characters when the destination limits every visible character, including spaces, and use Without spaces only when its instructions explicitly exclude whitespace. Sentence and paragraph totals help you spot structure, while reading time gives a planning estimate rather than a promise about how long every reader will need.
For a strict submission limit, compare Texite with the final publishing system before you send your work. A learning platform, document editor, or social network may count a hyphenated term or an emoji differently. Keeping one counter throughout drafting still gives you a stable reference as you edit.
Words and characters
Words use Unicode-aware segmentation when available. Characters include spaces and line breaks; the separate count removes Unicode whitespace.
Sentences and paragraphs
Sentence boundaries are estimates. Paragraphs are non-empty text blocks separated by one or more blank lines.
Reading time
The estimate divides the word count by your selected reading speed. It does not measure comprehension or text difficulty.

How does Texite count words?
Texite uses your browser’s Unicode-aware word segmenter when available. It counts word-like segments rather than simply splitting at every space, with a tested fallback for older browsers.
Does Texite save or upload my text?
No. Your text is processed in this page and is not sent to Texite or saved in browser storage. Refreshing or closing the tab may remove it.
What counts as a character?
Characters include spaces and line breaks. Texite counts user-perceived characters where the browser supports it, so a combined emoji can count as one character instead of several code units.
How is reading time calculated?
Reading time is an estimate based on the selected reading speed. The default is 225 words per minute; short text is shown as less than one minute.
Why can counts differ between tools?
Apps can use different rules for hyphens, apostrophes, abbreviations, punctuation, and languages. Use one tool consistently when you must meet a fixed limit.
Can I use the word counter on mobile?
Yes. The editor, live statistics, copy action, and reading-speed setting work on modern mobile browsers.
